After a Week Off, Shreyas Iyer Returns With a Furious Century

Mumbai’s Elite Group versus Odisha

Mumbai hammered Odisha on Day 1 as Shreyas Iyer produced an undefeated century on his Ranji comeback. Iyer skipped the previous round match against Tripura because he required a week’s rest despite scoring a ton against Maharashtra in October. Now, he’s returned by air.

On Day 1, Iyer and Siddhesh Lad (116*) amassed an unbroken 231 runs by stumps. Unfortunately, Bipul Samantray bowled Angkrish Raghuvanshi at 92, and Rahane was also out for a first-ball duck by the same bowler. Mumbai scored 385 for three at the end of the day.

As Tamil Nadu achieved 299 for seven on Day 1, the two most notable batting performances were half-centuries from Vijay Shankar (76) and Andre Siddarth C (94). Shahrukh Khan and Pradosh Ranjan Paul started but failed to capitalize, except for the two hitters.

Bengal versus Karnataka

The visitors reached 249 for five thanks to half-centuries from Shahbaz Ahmed (54*) and Sudip Chatterjee (55), as well as 100 from Bengal captain Anustup Majumdar (101). Vasuki Koushik gave Karnataka an early lead with three wickets, but Chatterjee and Majumdar’s 100-run partnership pulled Bengal back into the match.

Madhya Pradesh vs. Bihar

On Day 1, Madhya Pradesh was dominated by Shubham Sharma (134*) and Venkatesh Iyer (118*), who led the team to 381 for 4. In Patna, Venkatesh is hitting at a rate of more than a run per ball and smashed four sixes on his way to 118.

Punjab versus Haryana

Uttar Pradesh versus Kerala

UP was knocked out for a pitiful 162 in Thiruvananthapuram thanks to Jalaj Saxena’s five-wicket haul. In addition, the other bowlers contributed by taking wickets for the home team. Kerala is at 82 for two and only 80 runs behind, even though both openers were removed in the 20s.

Delhi versus Chandigarh

Delhi was bowled out for 276 by Chandigarh’s left-arm spinner Nishunk Birla, who took 6 for 72 despite Yash Dhull’s 121. With Ayush Badoni scoring the second-highest score of 49, none of the other Delhi batters, except Dhull, could capitalize on their beginnings.

The situation became even more urgent when Delhi took Arslan Khan’s second ball. Still, the hosts reached 63 for one at the Stumps thanks to a 63-run partnership between Chandigarh captain Manan Vohra and Shivam Bhambri.

Maharashtra versus the Services

On Day 1, Services reached 239 for four at Stumps thanks to an opening partnership of 128 runs from Suraj Vashisht and Shubham Rohilla. Before being dismissed before the end of play on the first day, Ravi Chauhan scored fifty-nine runs.
