I myself placed baskets under the bench for people to store their shoes when they came in. They can sit, take off their shoes, and easily put them back on when they leave. The bench is made cosier with big squishy pillows and fun little patterns, adding a touch of warmth and style to the entrance.

I’ll be the first to admit I don’t have a green thumb, but I’m improving because learning more helps me do better. It’s crucial to know which plants will thrive in your space. For me, that meant consulting with experts at my local garden centre.
I explained that my house faces south, receiving a ton of sun, almost full sun on my front porch, so I needed hearty plants and flowers that could last at least through the season. I chose nemisias, mums, and violas, mixing them in the pots. I love the freshness and brightness they bring to the space. I also had some leftover potting soil, which was essential. I used it to create a base in the big terracotta pot so that my flowers could really pop and sit at the top of the pot.
Depending on your space, sticking to symmetry might be nice, but I added an olive tree on the left, which makes a statement, so I wanted to balance everything out on the right-hand side. Always consider using odd numbers, so opt for odd numbers of pots and plants, not even numbers.
Finally:
During this decorating process, I learned that sometimes you just have to purchase a few items to really see how they look in your space. I bought seven throw pillows because I was uncertain about the patterns and colours. It turned out wonderfully, and I love the result. Plus, I can easily return the pillows if needed. It’s important to try things out and step out of your comfort zone.
